If you’re looking for a natural alternative to botox, this diy anti-aging face mask could be exactly what you need! A combination of hibiscus (aka the botox plant), raw honey and argan oil – this face mask will seriously take your skin to the next level. Why get injections when we can use what nature has provided for us?!

Why should I Avoid Botox?
If you’re thinking about getting botox (we all have, no judgment) do a little googling and you will probably change your mind. Seriously.
The good definitely does not outweigh the bad in this situation. There are so many side effects. Listen to this podcast by Maria Marlowe to get more information.
After listening to it, I vowed to myself to never, ever consider botox again.
Aside from the health risks, botox is freakin’ expensive man! And from what I have seen and heard, it becomes an addiction.
If you are on the fence about botox, I hope this gives you a little push to avoid it. If you currently get botox, maybe you can switch it up and try an au natural face mask instead of your next round!
Natural Alternatives to Botox
So how can I look young without getting botox? I used to ask myself this question all the time. I used to pick apart every line, wrinkle, sag and droop in the mirror. Well, just like when I had melasma, the best thing I did was not obsess over it.
I know it’s so hard not to obsess over it, but once you arm yourself with some tools and information, you will feel much better, much more confident and so much more secure with your choices and your appearance. What tools might you ask? Well, here are my favorites.
Face Yoga
One of the best natural, anti-aging secrets is face yoga. I have been following the face yoga method program for years and it has done wonders for my skin, posture and stress levels.
I started with these five poses and I noticed a difference within a few days.
I try to incorporate face yoga into my daily routine. I never realized how much stress and tension I hold in my face, jaw and shoulders. Face yoga helps me recognize where and when I’m holding tension and I can immediately release it. I will never stop doing face yoga!
Gua Sha
Gua sha is incredible! I received a gua sha in my detox box about 2 years ago and I had no clue what that funny-shaped rose quartz stone was. After googling and watching a few tutorials on youtube, I was hooked.
A gua sha stone (I have a few and this one is the absolute best!) is great for sculpting and lifting your skin. It really helps with circulation and gets the lymphatic system going (and draining!) so you look less puffy and more radiant. It’s also super relaxing to use after a long day – I can not recommend this tool enough.
This magical gua sha stone by Wilding Beauty is my favorite. It has a comb edge that helps to erase and smooth fine lines and the u-shape is perfect for gliding and lifting the jaw and cheekbones. I’m obsessed!!
Natural Skincare
Ahh this is where we get into what you really came here for – the best diy anti-aging skincare ingredients. In general, switching over to natural (and simple!) ingredients will help your skin tremendously. You try and limit processed foods, right? Putting processed beauty products on your face is the same thing!
Using natural skincare products and making my own skincare has dramatically changed my skin. I have battled melasma and acne and both of them went away through a combination of switching to natural skincare, cleaning up my diet, and changing my mindset (read more about that here).
Simple, natural ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, argan oil, honey and essential oils have so many unbelievable benefits for your skin. They help with acne, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and so much more.
DIY Anti-Aging Face Mask for Wrinkles and Fine Lines
It’s time to breakdown the awesome ingredients in this DIY anti-aging face mask.
Hibiscus, often called the “the botox plant” has tons of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. According to the experts at mind body green, hibiscus may help slow down collagen degradation and could prevent elastin breakdown too. You can read the full article here.
The natural alpha-hydroxy acids in hibiscus not only help exfoliate the skin, but also promote cell turnover and help purify the skin. This plant is too good to be true!
Raw Honey is absolutely amazing for your skin. I have been doing a raw manuka honey facemask for years and just recently I started exfoliating with raw honey a few times a week.

A lot of people wonder, “does honey help with aging?” Yes, it does! Raw honey (must be raw to get the skin-loving benefits) is considered to be a humectant, meaning it draws moisture to your skin and more importantly, helps your skin retain moisture (moisture = glow!). It’s really great for acne-prone skin and mature skin and can even be used as a gentle face wash.
The raw honey I get (and most raw honey I’m assuming) has little beads in it that help to exfoliate skin. My skin feels so soft and smooth after I use it.
Argan Oil is the last ingredient in our little home remedy for anti-aging and glowing skin. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you know I love this oil! It is super great for anti-aging (thanks to the vitamin E, polyphenols, squalene and carotenes) and it’s so gentle on your skin. I call it my “gateway oil”
DIY Anti-Aging Face Mask Recipe
1 tsp Raw Honey
1/2 tsp Hibiscus Powder
4-5 drops Argan Oil
Combine all of your ingredients in a small bowl. Apply to skin and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Follow up with a super hydrating anti-aging moisturizer.
Tips for using your DIY Anti-Aging Face Mask
I recommend doing this face mask once a week. I personally like doing it on Saturday or Sunday right before I jump in the shower. It’s pretty sticky and you might get some in your hair so it’s a good idea to do it right before you wash your hair.
It’s also a good idea to do a patch test on your skin to make sure this face mask won’t irritate your skin. After your mix up your ingredients, place a little dab of the mixture on your forearm or neck and leave it on for a few minutes. If your skin feels good (not itchy or burning) then you are in the clear.

Hi Shane! I honestly have no experience with making soap, but I think that would be a great idea!
Love this! Maybe you could figure out a way to make a face soap bar with this?
I’m trying to make soaps but don’t have the money or space to branch out and try it.
Is there a way to make a shea butter (and/or beeswax) soap bar (with these ingredients)
