Everything you need to know about Yarrow Pom and how to use it for anti-aging
What’s with all the hype around doTERRA’s relatively new oil blend, Yarrow Pom? I thought the same thing…until I tried it. Let me tell you, this oil blend is definitely worth talking about! Read on to learn more about Yarrow Pom, what it’s all about and a few different ways you can use it.

What is Yarrow Pom?
Yarrow Pom is one of doTERRA’s fairly new products. It is called their “active botanical nutritive duo”, but I call it a powerhouse serum!
Yarrow Pom is a blend of Yarrow essential oil and cold-pressed Pomegranate seed oil. Let’s talk about these two gems separately.
All about Yarrow Essential Oil
Yarrow essential oil, also known as Achillea millefolium, is a gorgeous, brilliant blue essential oil. It is known for wound healing as well as being highly anti-inflammatory. It is steam distilled from the leaves and flowers of the yarrow plant native to France.
The bright blue color comes from the chemical constituent, chamazulene. You can also find chamazulene in Blue Tansy and German Chamomile.
Chamazulene is part of a chemical family known as sesquiterpenes. Sesquiterpenes are really powerful anti-inflammatories, antispasmodic, and also super calming and soothing to the central nervous system. Copaiba is also high in sesquiterpenes just as a reference point.
Yarrow essential oil is also high in monoterpenes (another chemical family). Monoterpenes are antimicrobial, antioxidants, uplifting and have a drying effect. Other essential oils high in monoterpenes are Bergamot, Wild Orange, Cypress and Juniper Berry.
Can you already tell how incredible Yarrow essential oil is?! It is sooo good for the skin, especially inflamed conditions. It’s also great for toning the skin and to help prevent premature aging. This is an incredible oil to add to our beauty regimen!
All about Pomegranate Seed Oil
I really don’t think doTERRA could have picked a better carrier oil for this blend.
Pomegranate seed oil is absolutely incredible for the skin!
It’s really high in Punicic Acid, which is a highly nutritious fatty acid for the skin. It helps to balance out the skin’s pH and condition the skin’s surface.
It’s cell regenerative, anti-inflammatory, helps increase elasticity and tone the skin, it’s super revitalizing – basically an anti-aging powerhouse!
How to use Yarrow Pom for Skincare
I use Yarrow Pom as a daily serum. While I do love to make my own serums, I seriously can’t compete with this one!
I’ve been using it in the morning, but the trick is to mix it with another botanical oil. I do this because using Yarrow Pom alone is a little too heavy for my skin. It feels kind of tacky if I use it alone. I thin it out with a little jojoba oil and it goes on super smooth.
I do about three drops of Yarrow Pom with around 4 drops of Jojoba Oil.
This also helps extend the life of my Yarrow Pom bottle because damn this oil is pricey! (totally worth it though)
A couple of things I have noticed since I starting using Yarrow Pom
- It helps to smooth out the texture of my skin. I have noticed a definite difference in how my skin feels since using this oil blend. It’s much smoother and softer!
- It gives me an overall glow.
- My skin is evening out.
- It calms me down.
Other ways to use Yarrow Pom
Aside from skincare, you could also use Yarrow Pom in different ways to support your emotional and physical health.
This would be an amazing oil to use when you are giving someone a massage. Since it’s so calming to the nervous system, it’s great for grounding and relaxation. And if you’re the one giving the massage you will experience the benefits through the aroma. Win-win!
Since this oil blend is considered a nutritional supplement, you could also take it internally to support immune function and as an antioxidant boost. I personally don’t use it this way, but I know plenty of people who do. Make sure to consult your physician before you take anything internally though!
