My Non-toxic Minimalist Makeup Collection
If you think about how many skincare, makeup, and haircare products you use on a daily basis, the numbers can really add up. Now I love makeup just as much as the next girl, but do we really need all the products? I have a few awesome non-toxic items in my minimalist makeup collection that I want to share with you. Hopefully, this will inspire you to wear less makeup and let your natural beauty shine through!
The following post may contain affiliate links of products I use and love. You can read my full disclosure here.
Benefits of a minimalist makeup collection
There are so many glorious benefits to having a minimalist makeup collection.
For one, you will save tons of time in the morning. How long does it take you to put your makeup on? If it’s more than five minutes, who has the time?
Don’t get me wrong, I love to get dolled up every now and then. But on a daily basis, do you really need all the products?
Second, you will save tons of money. Having only a few products means when they run out (which usually takes forever) you won’t have to replace a million products. Just one or two.
Third, your skin will be super happy. Your skin doesn’t want a bunch of products layered on top of it every single day. Give your skin a break and just use some awesome skincare products on it and maybe go bare every now and then.
Fourth, you’re reducing your toxic load. The average woman applies hundreds of chemicals to her skin every day, most of which haven’t been tested for safety. The EU has banned around 1300 chemicals for use in cosmetics. The US? 30. Something ain’t right here you guys. Your toxic burden will be much much lower when you kick all those makeup products to the curb.
How can I minimize my makeup?
Alright so don’t go throwing everything out at once. That would be wasteful. Dig through your collection and figure out what you really need (and maybe love). Anything unopened that you have you can sell on ebay or poshmark. Or just give it to a friend.
Focus on keeping multi-tasking products. Those are the true gems.
If you’re starting from scratch, I’ve listed the items in my minimalist makeup collection below. All of the products I use are completely non-toxic and actually good for your skin! I also love a good multi-tasking product.
What’s in my minimalist makeup bag?
RMS “un” cover-up
The creamiest, dreamiest cover up ever! I use the shade 11.5 to cover up my dark circles and 22 to spot treat hyperpigmentation and pimples.
I love everything Rosemarie Swift (the founder of RMS) has to say and her makeup tips are awesome. Check out some of her videos on youtube.
Ilia Multi-stick Cheek & Lip
Ilia is another small green beauty company I’m obsessed with. Their multi-stick is amazing! I mostly just use it on my cheeks, but you can also use it on lips and eyes. The texture is awesome.
I have the color A Fine Romance – Berry.
Ilia Limitless Mascara
I love this mascara! It’s the best clean one I’ve found to date. I was using the new Beautycounter mascara for a while, but I found it was really running under my eyes. I always go back to Ilia.
Beautycounter eyeliner
My favorite eyeliner! I use this in black and I love it. No bells and whistles here, just your typical eyeliner.
Beautycounter Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick
Obsessed with this lipstick and I don’t wear lipstick! It’s super creamy and goes on like a balm, but with a hint of color. It also has this incredible vanilla scent that is to die for.
I have this lipstick in the shade Pearl and also Lily. Love them both.
And that’s my minimalist makeup collection!
