Immune Support with Essential Oils
Are you looking for a natural way to keep your immune system strong? Between back to school, seasons changing and cold and flu season on the horizon, we all could use a little help.
One of the most simple things you can do is make an immune-boosting essential oil roller and I’m here to show you how!
DIY Essential Oil Roller for Immune Support
The following post may contain affiliate links of products I use and love. You can read my full disclosure here. Thank you for your support!
Why Essential Oils for Immune Support?
Essential oils have been life-changing for me and my family. We have been using them for SIX years and have had so many positive experiences, I always kick myself for not using them sooner! Any ache, pain, cut, scrape, infection or virus has been nipped in the bud quickly and easily with my essential oil toolkit.
Essential oils are an amazing addition to anyone’s medicine cabinet. They are easy to use, only cost pennies per use and they are super powerful! Check out this study about an essential oil blend doTERRA makes called On Guard. The flu is no match for essential oils!

When you are shopping for essential oils, stick with a company that is very transparent about how and where they source their essential oils so you know what you are getting. We always want to use essential oils that are completely pure and potent and most importantly, sourced from where the plant grows naturally.
The majority of my essential oils tend to come from doTERRA because I have a wholesale membership (and I love their blends!), but there are definitely some oils they don’t offer that I really want in my collection. I don’t believe that you have to use only one brand! I also use and recommend Aura Cacia and Eden’s Garden, which you can get on Amazon.

What You Will Need to Make an Immune Support Roller
Supplies are pretty simple here – essential oils, a carrier oil for dilution and a 10-ml roller bottle.
One of my favorite things about doTERRA is the awesome blends they make. One blend specifically, On Guard, is what got us hooked on essential oils. On Guard is a blend of Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Wild Orange. It smells like a warm, cozy fall day. Seriously love it.

If you don’t use doTERRA and don’t have On Guard, don’t panic – you can still make a great immune-boosting roller. You will just replace On Guard with Cinnamon Bark essential oil. Cinnamon is great for fighting viruses and infections and should be in every Mama’s toolkit. Be really careful when handling cinnamon, it’s a hot oil and will burn your skin. I learned that one the hard way! You can read more about the benefits of cinnamon here.
The other essential oils you will need to make your immune-boosting roller are Oregano, Tea Tree and Lemon.
Now it’s time to make the roller!
How to Make Your DIY Immune Boosting Roller
This is the fun part! You are going to add equal drops of each essential oil to the roller (see dilution chart below for correct amounts) and then fill the rest with fractionated coconut oil (or whichever carrier oil you prefer).
Push the top in, gently shake it to combine all of the oils, label your bottle and you’re done. So easy!
Using essential oils safely is very important. A little oil goes a long way so there’s no need to overdo it. I follow the chart below for safe dilution.
Since I use this roller on my 6 and 11-year-olds I only add about 2-3 drops of each essential oil for a total of 10(ish) drops.
How to Use Your Essential Oil Roller
Now it’s time to get rolling! I use the roller on my kids once a day, usually at night when everyone is getting ready for bed. I simply roll it up and down their spines a few times and then rub it in.
I use it for about 10 days in a row as a preventative, then I like to give it a break for a few days or even a week. That’s just me. I know people that use it every night, but I’m in the school of thought where using something every day reduces its effectiveness after a while. Again, that’s just me and how my head works.
If someone is sick in my house you can bet your bippy I’m using this roller on them several times a day until they are better.
That’s it!
A lot of people get scared and intimidated about using essential oils, but they are really super easy to use. All you need are a few essential oils, some roller bottles and a carrier oil and you’re already ahead of the game. Go you!

Yes, I started using them topically on my son when he was about 2. Only 2-3 drops per roller I would say.

Hello again!
Curious how young you started using essential oils on your kids? My oldest is 3…would you do even less drops in a roller for him?
Thank you!

Not silly!! Carrier oils can be any oil in liquid form (so hard coconut oil wouldn’t work well) – they are oils like jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil and so on. Their job is to literally carry the essential oils onto your skin. Let me know if you have any more questions:) xo Maryjane
