Homemade Super Healing Hand Cream

DIY Super Healing Hand Cream
Dry, cracked winter hands are the worst. I’ve been washing my hands way more than usual lately and they are becoming so dry and brittle.
Throw in washing dishes under hot water several times a day (yes I have gloves but I always forget to use them!) and we have a real mess on our hands (no pun intended).
I usually use my DIY Lip Balm as a moisturizer on my hands – and it totally helps – but it takes a while to work that beeswax into my skin. A new DIY was calling my name!
Hand Cream Ingredients
Shea Butter
Shea Butter is the ultimate dry skin fixer. It is super moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and rich in Vitamins A and E. An amazing dry skin ingredient!
I like to get the raw stuff – less processed is where it’s at.
Calendula Infused Olive Oil
Calendula flowers are rich in flavonoids that are highly anti-inflammatory and full of antioxidants. I make my own calendula infused olive oil (here’s how you can too!) from the dried flowers, but you could also purchase the oil premade from Amazon.
Because of it’s wound healing and skin-soothing properties, it makes an excellent addition to this super healing hand cream.
If you need to make this ASAP and you don’t have calendula infused olive oil you can substitute regular olive oil.
Lavender Essential Oil
This recipe is extremely effective with just the two ingredients of shea butter and calendula infused olive oil, BUT I always love to add essential oils to my recipes to give them that extra kick.
Lavender essential oil is my go-to for all things skin-related. It is super soothing to the skin and is also great for wound healing.
Are you wondering why I’ve been talking about wound healing when it comes to dry hands? Well, when we use a lot of hand sanitizer and wash our hands a million times throughout the day, that dry cracked skin can turn into painful little cuts. This hand cream will help to heal those cuts and actually prevent them from happening when used regularly!
How to Make Your Hand Cream
Supplies
Aside from the ingredients mentioned above, you will need 2 oz tins or jars to store your hand cream in. I love these tins because they are lightweight and it’s not going to weigh your purse down if you decide to throw your hand cream in there.
Another handy item you may want to consider is this little food chopper. You can throw all of your ingredients in it and it blends the hand cream so perfectly, making it nice and smooth. So much easier than mixing it yourself!
To Make Your Hand Cream
Combine in a bowl or food processor:
1/4 cup Shea Butter
1 Tablespoon Calendula Infused Olive Oil
6-10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Mix all ingredients thoroughly and spoon it into a container. Done!
How To Use Your Hand Cream
Is it weird for me to tell you how to use hand cream? I will anyway!
Apply a small amount to your hands and really rub it into the dry areas. This cream is so thick and moisturizing that you might only need to apply it once a day.
I used mine yesterday afternoon and as I’m writing this (about 18 hours later), my hands are still nice and moisturized. Dry patches are gone. That’s how good this cream is!
Are you ready to make your hand cream?!
Get all of your ingredients ready and make your hand cream ASAP! You won’t regret it!

Hi Maria! They must have taken that product off the market, sorry about that! I just found this one on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/678157202/calendula-oil?ref=shop_home_active_4&crt=1 It looks pretty good! You could also just use plain olive oil – the hand cream will still be amazing!!!

I’d like to make the recipe but don’t want to take the time to make my own calendula infused oil. Your link is currently not available on Amazon. Do you have another source you can recommend? Thanks. Maria
