Mermaid Spray for Strong, Long, Healthy Hair
If you feel like your hair isn’t moving, it’s just kind of stuck at one length, then you have to make this mermaid spray!
This is one of the sprays in my five must-have essential oil spray recipes post and I think it’s my favorite.
It gives your scalp and hair follicles that extra little push it needs to keep on working.
Each of the essential oils in this spray works to promote hair growth, strengthen hair, stimulate the scalp and increase blood circulation.

You could also throw a little peppermint in the recipe, but I just happen to love the way these four essential oils smell together.
Instead of using water as the base ingredient, we are using witch hazel. Witch hazel is an amazing astringent for skin and hair and it especially helps keep those frizzies away.
I don’t add any vegetable oils to this spray because I use it in the morning and I’m not looking to grease up my hair, BUT if you wanted to use this as a hair mask or oil treatment at night, Argan oil would be a great addition.
I use this spray on a daily basis and my hair seriously won’t stop growing! I absolutely LOVE the way it smells and it never leaves my hair greasy or crusty.

Essential Oils for the Win
We are using essential oils that are known for promoting healthy hair and scalp – Rosemary, Lavender, Cedarwood and Geranium. Use your favorite brand – I like doTERRA (I have a membership so I get them at wholesale), Aura Cacia and Edens Garden.
Have you noticed a lot of commercial shampoos and conditioners advertise these essential oils as one of the ingredients? It’s because they promote hair growth! The big difference between the shampoo companies and us is we are using the real thing – pure essential oils.
Check out this study on Rosemary essential oil done by pubmed.org – patients saw hair growth within 6 months of using the oil. Amazing right?!
Not only does this essential oil combo work so well for keeping hair strong and healthy (and long!), it seriously smells amazing (did I mention that already?)
Essential Oil Mermaid Spray Recipe
To make this recipe you will need the four essential oils pictured above, witch hazel and a 4 ounce glass bottle.
It’s super easy to make! Simply add the following essential oils to your glass spray bottle and then fill the rest with witch hazel.
- 30 drops Cedarwood essential oil
- 30 drops Lavender essential oil
- 20 drops Rosemary essential oil
- 10 drops Geranium essential oil
Shake it up and it’s ready to go! You can spray it on dry or wet hair, doesn’t matter, just make sure you get it on your scalp and roots and then work it through.
This essential oil spray never leaves my hair greasy or crusty, it just blends right in.
I hope you love this recipe my lovely mermaids. Share it with a friend who could use a little hair help!

Hi Debby! Yes, this spray will help a bit because of the Rosemary EO so make sure you don’t leave that one out! Thinning hair could also be connected to stress or hormonal issues. Hi Heather! Definitely not all day, maybe for an hour or two.

Does your hair smell like the oils all day or does it fade quickly? I’m a bit sensitive to lingering smells.
Maryjane Cartmell says
I believe it is. I have color treated hair and I haven’t noticed any changes.
K says
Is this safe for color treated hair? Some essential oils will strip color.
