DIY Sea Salt Spray (for texture and beach waves!)
The following post may contain affiliate links of products I use and love. You can read my full disclosure here.
This is a sweet and simple (and ridiculously cheap!) DIY that gives your hair that textured, just got home from the beach look. I made this DIY Sea Salt Spray in 5 minutes – it’s so simple and it really works!
DIY Sea Salt Spray
We all love that sexy, beachy look, right? That’s what this Sea Salt Spray will give you!
The basic idea is to mix salt and water (aka the ocean) and spray it on your hair. I also added a few essential oils that are great for hair health – Lavender, Rosemary and Geranium, and a carrier oil that is soooo good for your hair – Argan Oil!
The combination of the four ingredients – salt, water, essential oils and argan oil – make this DIY Sea Salt Spray out of this world good!

How I use it
Ok, so I have pin straight hair. Pin straight. A curl holds on my hair for about 5 seconds. I honestly don’t even bother curling my hair because it’s not worth it.
I moved on to this DIY Sea Salt Spray because it gives my hair texture and that beachy look without any effort at all. I am super low maintenance if you can’t tell!
I use the spray after I wash my hair. I let it air dry for a few minutes, spritz it a few times with the sea salt spray and then I like to twist it back into a bun for maybe 20-30 minutes. You could also spritz your hair and then scrunch it up with your hands to get a few waves.
This is what my hair looked like after taking it out of the bun.
It’s still a tad bit damp, but I love the texture it gives me. This is how I want it to look all day – and with this DIY sea salt spray it actually does!
This was about 6 hours later after being outside (and it was really windy!)
I still have the texture I was hoping for and I didn’t have to do anything except spritz my hair a few times and put it in a bun!
Ready to try this DIY Sea Salt Spray?
Let’s go! Here’s how you make it.
You will need:
1/4 cup hot water
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp argan oil (this one is my favorite)
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
5 drops Geranium Essential Oil
2-ounce glass spray bottle
To make your DIY Sea Salt Spray boil water in a tea kettle or on the stove. Transfer to a bowl or pot and add in the sea salt. Whisk together until the salt is dissolved. Let cool for a few minutes and then add in the rest of your ingredients. Carefully pour into your glass spray bottle. Shake it up and you’re ready to go!
This recipe makes 2 ounces, so double or triple if you have a bigger bottle.
