I had terrible skin on and off throughout my twenties which led to a case of melasma after my first son was born. I was desperately searching for a way to get rid of it – I tried every cream, lotion, mask, and supplement out there. Nothing worked.
I decided to stop obsessing over it and instead explored natural skincare options like oil cleansing and DIY face creams. Shea butter and argan oil became my best friends. I started using essential oils for stress and relaxation. The melasma didn’t disappear overnight, but it slowly started becoming less and less noticeable. The simple products I was using brought out a natural “glow” which was the best thing I could ask for!
I started sharing my recipes (you can find tons here) on this blog and now I get amazing feedback on how these super simple remedies are helping you all. It warms my heart.
Things changed when I became a widow and solo parent suddenly last February. I started running, doing yoga and meditating and it’s been so helpful to continue that. It helps me mentally and physically and I would not be able to take care of my kids if it weren’t for my self-care habits.
I’ve become less focused on external beauty and more focused on inner beauty – soul beauty. Because let’s be honest – all you really need is a good facial oil, a little shea butter, and maybe some beeswax and raw honey. Everything else is just marketing.
I hope you feel encouraged to simplify and detoxify your skincare and beauty products and create some new habits to bring out your inner glow. Thank you for your support!
